How it works
Major League Markets publishes sports season indexes. Each index tracks every club in a league, and each club's value is the cash it has earned from official results this season. Licensed venues list contracts on our indexes; we calculate and publish the values they settle to.
About Major League Markets
We publish.
Indexes, the methodology, settled values at every official close, and a public, hash-chained ledger anyone can verify.
Venues list.
A licensed exchange or operator lists the contracts, matches orders, clears trades and holds customer money.
We never take positions.
We never set prices, take positions or hold funds. Every pool is fixed by construction, so we have no stake in any result.
What a sports season index is
An index is a family of shares, one per club. A share earns value as its club wins regular-season games and advances in the playoffs. That earned amount is its settled value. It changes only at an official close: it rises with every win and rung, and it falls only if a league changes a result after the close, through a published correction event.
How it differs from a single-game contract
A single-game contract settles all or nothing on one result. A Season Share settles a little at a time across the whole season: every win adds value, and a club that misses the playoffs keeps what its wins earned.
How a share earns value
Every league uses the same playoff ladder. The only thing that changes by league is the amount per win.
- Berth$2.00$2.00 cumulative
- Round 1$4.00$6.00 cumulative
- Round 2$8.00$14.00 cumulative
- Round 3$12.00$26.00 cumulative
- Title$40.00$66.00 cumulative
- A bye credits the round it skips.
- Playoff game wins never count; only advancing a round does.
- Every game produces exactly one win, or two halves, and every rung pays a fixed number of clubs. The total pool is fixed before the season starts.

League by league
Pro Football

Pro Basketball
There are no ties. The play-in round credits nothing; the 16 clubs in the main bracket earn a berth.
Pro Hockey
An overtime or shootout win is a full win. An overtime or shootout loss earns nothing. 16 clubs earn a berth.
Pro Baseball
12 clubs earn a berth; the 4 clubs with a bye are credited Round 1. A suspended game counts when it is completed. A game never played by season's end is half a win to each club.
Pro Soccer
A draw is half a win to each club. The wild-card round credits nothing; the 16 clubs in Round One earn a berth.
Official league standings decide everything. Major League Markets does not interpret results.
One season, start to finish: Seattle, Pro Football 2025
14 regular-season wins at $2.00 = $28.00. Berth $2.00 and a bye credited Round 1 ($4.00), both at the 2026-01-05 close. Round 2 $8.00, Round 3 $12.00, Title $40.00. Final settled value: $94.00 of a possible $100.00.
Settled value
cumulative settled value at each official close · $0 to $100.00 · through the 2026-02-09 close
When values move: the official close
- Values post once a day at the official close, 09:00 Central Time, the morning after the game.
- Before each close, game results are checked against an independent second source where one is available. A result the second source contradicts is withheld and checked again at the next close. A result that cannot be checked posts and is marked unverified. Playoff berths and byes post from the field the league announces.
- A published close is never edited. If a league changes a result later, the fix posts as a new correction event.
What venues list on an index
FAQ
Is Major League Markets an exchange?
No. We publish indexes and license them. Listing, matching, clearing and customer money stay with the venue.
Where can I trade these?
Nowhere yet. Contracts on our indexes will be listed by licensed venues. Nothing on this site is an offer.
Can a published value go down or change?
A published close is never edited. Settled value rises with results. It can fall only if a league changes a result after the close; that change posts as a new correction event on the public ledger.
What happens if a game or a playoff round is cancelled?
A regular-season game never played by season's end is half a win to each club. A cancelled playoff round's amount is split evenly among the clubs still alive. No committee decides anything.
What happens if a club relocates?
The share follows the franchise.
How do I license an index?
