Pro Football 2024 Index Methodology

Version 1.0 Final

1. Index objective

The Pro Football 2024 Index measures the cash value earned by each club in Pro Football during the 2024 season, from official league results. It consists of one constituent per club and is designed to be referenced by contracts listed on licensed venues.

2. Constituents

One constituent per club in the league for the season: 32 clubs.

A club that relocates or renames during the season remains the same constituent; the share follows the franchise.

3. Eligible games

Regular-season games count. Preseason games do not. Playoff games never count as wins; advancing a round credits a rung.

4. Redemption schedule

Each Season Share redeems, cumulatively, $2.00 per regular-season win, then Berth $2.00 · Round 1 $4.00 · Round 2 $8.00 · Round 3 $12.00 · Title $40.00.

Maximum per share: $100.00.

272 games × $2.00 = $544.00; ladder $156.00; pool $700.00.

5. Results

Official league standings decide every result. Major League Markets does not interpret results.

A win is one win. A tie is half a win to each club.

A postponed game counts when it is played. A forfeit counts as the league records it.

6. Playoff rungs

Berth: reaching the league's main playoff bracket (14 clubs). Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and Title: advancing through each round of the main bracket. Rungs are cumulative. A bye credits the round it skips. Berths, and Round 1 for a bye, post at the first official close after the league names the full playoff field. Playoff game wins never count; only advancing a round does.

2 clubs receive a bye and are credited Round 1.

7. Calculation and precision

A constituent's settled value is the sum of its ledger events. Amounts are exact and never rounded; where a rule requires it they are recorded to the tenth of a cent. Displayed values are rounded at the page, never in the data.

8. Official close and publication

The official close is 09:00 Central Time on the day after a game. A game dated D is eligible at the close on D+1. Results restated by the league before the close are absorbed; after the close, a change is a forward correction event. No published close is restated.

9. Settlement sources

Results are taken from the ranked sources in the Settlement Procedures. Before each close, each game result is reconciled against an independent second source where one is available. A result the second source contradicts is withheld and checked again at the next close; it posts when it matches or can no longer be checked. A result that cannot be checked posts and is marked unverified. Berths and byes post from the playoff field the league announces.

10. Corrections

A change to a result after the close posts as a new correction event on the ledger. A correction event can reduce a constituent's settled value; it is the only way a settled value goes down. Earlier events and published closes are never edited.

11. Disruptions

A regular-season game never played by season's end credits half a win to each club. If a playoff round is cancelled, its unpaid rung total is split evenly among every club still alive in that round, truncated to the tenth of a cent, with the remaining tenths credited one per club in the league's official final standings order. If the season is shortened, every unplayed regular-season game credits half a win to each club; if no playoff field was named, every club is still alive for each rung. No committee discretion applies. These rules are set by the League Index Framework v1.0 §3.

12. Governance and versioning

This methodology is governed by the Index Committee under the Governance page. A methodology locks for the duration of a season once the season begins. Changes for a later season are published with notice before that season's first value date.
